ANZAC Day

A rainy ANZAC Day but the twins and I got up at 5.30 am to go to the Dawn Parade.
I usually like to place a photo of Palmy on those
balmy days but we watched the Air force fly over this morning
for the mid  morning parade and the moment was there is take yet another photo.
And of course since we have the day off (and yes its raining) another opportunity to scrap.

Good Friday

Nice relaxing day in the McLachlan household. Gregor is on his big boys Toy (the digger) and the boys are keeping themselves busy building houses out of the pillows.
Teghan (aged 9) is over to finish off a layout and to start another.

And below is my layout for today.  Both panels on mine and Teghans layouts are hand doodled on white card stock with pen and chalk.

Now time for Hot cross buns for afternoon tea.

Waterfall card: Here is my favourite card, with instructions

This is my favourite card.

It is easier than it looks and so versatile.

Slide Card Instruction

From one piece of Cardstock cut:
A:  8 ¾   ” X 4”   (tip: cut 2 x 4 “ strips first to save paper)
B:  10” x 4”
C: 4” x ¾
D: 11” x 1 ¾”

E: four 1½” squares

From Patterned paper (double sided) cut:

3 pieces:  7½” x 3¾”  (tip: cut 3 x 3 ¾ strips first to save paper)
2 pieces:  3¾” x 2”

To create the card
Score (A) 1” at one end and fold.  Tape and attach to piece (b)
Score (B) 2 ¼ ” and fold over to close card.
Cover the front cover and inside of the card with your patterned
paper  (not the inside front cover at this stage) and outside
and inside of card flip.  This will be done after the brads
have been placed on the card

Piece (C) using small pieces of double sided tape
at each end attach to the front cover about 4½ “ from
the left hand side of the card.   Uses two brads to
secure the strip

Cut four 1¾” squares from white cardstock
Cut four 1½” squares from coloured cardstock
Optional: cut four 1¼” squares from patterned paper)
Remember that the above colour sequence can
be changed to what every you prefer

Optional: Stamp the desired stamps on the coloured
cardstock (or on the white cardstock and cut out.
Then stick to the top of the layered card square)

Cut a 11” x 1 ¾” strip from the coloured cardstock.
Score from the left hand side at 6¼” and 7¼“ and 8¼” and 9¼”.
Fold and crease each score line.
On the back of each card section, place double
sided tape down the right hand side.  On the 11” strip of CS,
attach each card to the left side of each score line.

Fold the unscored section and thread under the
strip attached to the card.
Secure the last Card section to the strip

With either patterned paper or Cardstock (7½ x 3 ¾“), cover the inside cover of the card to cover the brads.  Now embellish the card as you wish.  (I have put an arrow point at the end of the strip)

Enjoy:

April Play date

Once a month I get together with some friends (Michelle, Sarah and Linley) and we spend the day scrapping.  Mixed in with some snack food (eg: several types of Chocolate), lunch (with Chocolate eclairs for dessert)  and thought provoking conversation (about Chocolate and how to save the world, live with Children and oh so much more.

But anyway here are my play date results.

I used a scrolled mat for the above layout which allows for a journal tag to be place under the mat.

The layout below is nothing but Pen and Paper (handmade letters) and doodling.

Nothing but Pen and Paper

It was one of those days when everyone at work was there just to rattle my cage ( very little chocolate in sight and not enough Coffee).
The saving grace was that I knew that when I got home I could just sit back relax and scrap for an hour or two, have a nice glass of wine.  So here is the results of a bad day at work.
For this layout I started with white cardstock and doodled the rest.

Nothing but Pen and paper.  Again only Stampin up (SU) Pens and SU Card stock.
Off to Wellington for a work meeting tomorrow so hopefully a little less stress and more coffee.

Crafty Layout

This layout was to experiment with a new open section.
I have used the latest Stampin up papers just out in their Autumn mini catalogue.

The side section opens to an area that could have several photos.  The small section at the bottom of the layout closed with the red ribbon opens to the journal section

Autumn - Songbird Gardens.

This is a layout that I really enjoyed doing (2010).  The boys helped with the journalling of the card stock and multi inking white card stock to use when cutting out the leaves (using the big shot).   Lots a fun with a little mess.

Layout template 1

When I see layouts that inspire or I have an idea that might work,  I note them down in my journal and as time allows and when I have photos that might just work, I sit down and scrap.

This weekend Gregor is off to Hamilton for Karate so I have some time to relax.  (There always seems to be less tidying up to do when he is not here,  hmm go figure!)

Anyway this is the layout that I will be working on.  Blog you soon with the results.
